Injuries Reported in San Antonio Auto Accident on East Commerce Street and Navarro Street
SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 20, 2024) – Sunday morning, an alarming hit-and-run crash on East Commerce Street and Navarro Street injured 2.
The incident occurred just before 2:00 a.m. at the downtown intersection of East Commerce Street and Navarro Street.
Officers reported that a Chevrolet was traveling northbound on Navarro Street when the suspect, driving a Nissan Altima westbound on Commerce Street, ran a red light and collided with the Chevrolet. Two people in the Chevrolet suffered unspecified injuries, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
The driver of the Nissan Altima fled the scene on foot but was later found hiding in a nearby parking garage by officers. SAPD suspected the driver was intoxicated, and an evaluation confirmed the impairment. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on three charges: driving while intoxicated and two counts of collision involving injury.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
