1 Person Arrested in Santa Barbara Hit-and-Run Accident on De La Vina Street
SANTA BARBARA, CA (June 7, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, an alarming hit-and-run crash on De La Vina Street injured one person.
The incident started at around 12:25 p.m. when officers received a call about a person attempting to enter a locked local business on the 1900 block of De La Vina Street.
According to reports, responding officers asked the person to leave and the suspect complied. Then, the suspect drove into a retaining wall and was later pulled over by officers on the 2000 block of Bath Street. Also, the suspect attempted to flee the traffic stop and a Good Samaritan tried to stop them by standing in front of the vehicle.
Moreover, the suspect drove away from the scene, hitting the Good Samaritan in the process. Then, responding paramedics transported the victim to a hospital with serious injuries.
Furthermore, officers managed to arrest the suspect on the 2300 block of Carlton Way at around 1:36 p.m.
At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information became available, the public will be notified.
Due to limited information, authorities continued to investigate the crash.
