OAKLAND, CA (December 25, 2024) – Late Monday afternoon, a carjacking suspect was arrested after an alarming crash on East 12th Street.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. at 300 East 12th Street, said the Oakland Police Department.

Officers spotted the carjacked vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the suspect fled, eventually colliding with another car, police reported.

The suspect abandoned the carjacked vehicle and attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended.

Authorities confirmed that multiple occupants of the second vehicle were injured in the crash. While the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed, footage showed one individual being loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.
