Injuries Reported in Inglewood Vehicle Crash on Prairie Avenue and 97th Street
INGLEWOOD, CA (March 11, 2024) – Sunday morning, an Inglewood police sergeant suffered injuries in an alarming auto accident on Prairie Avenue.
The incident began with an apartment fire, just before 1:30 a.m. at a three-story apartment building near the intersection of Prairie Avenue and 97th Street, just north of Century Boulevard.
Thus, firefighters and police officers came to the scene, where smoke was seen emanating from the second floor.
Then, as the firefighters battled the blaze, the DUI suspect hit a police vehicle that had been parked as part of a street closure.
As a result, responders took a police sergeant and the suspect to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Meanwhile, officers confirmed that the sergeant was “OK” and the driver’s condition was unknown.
Also, officers arrested the suspect on suspicion of DUI, and was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
