Injuries Reported in San Antonio Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 35 and Loop 1604

SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 21, 2023) – Late Saturday night, an alarming 3-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 sent 1 person to the hospital.

The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Interstate 35 North, outside Loop 1604 on the city’s far Northeast Side.

According to reports, a black Ford F-150 caused a multi-vehicle crash. As a result, all northbound lanes of the highway were closed for an extended period.

Then, the truck driver of the truck tried to run on foot after the crash but was caught by officers near the scene.

Meanwhile, officers evaluated the driver and found them to be under the influence, and was taken into custody.

Moreover, the preliminary police report of the crash revealed that several people in the vehicles sustained injuries. However, only one, a 74-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers charged the male driver of the truck with intoxication assault, police said.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
