RIVERSIDE, CA (August 16, 2023) – Sunday night, an alarming 2-vehicle crash on Van Buren Boulevard and Barton Street injured 2 people.

The incident happened at 5:24 p.m. on Van Buren Boulevard and Barton Street.

The City of Riverside Fire Department, Riverside Police Department, and California Highway Patrol, Riverside all responded to the scene.

Upon the first units’ arrival, they located 2 vehicles, a white truck and a blue car with major damage. They also found one young male passenger inside the blue car trapped.

Thus, firefighters utilized heavy equipment and extrication tools to free the passenger out of the vehicle which took around 15 minutes.

Then, responders took the boy to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

Moreover, his age and current status remained unknown.

Meanwhile, officers revealed that the driver of the car was the older brother of the injured passenger. Responders took the brother to the hospital with less severe but unknown injuries.

Moreover, the truck occupants suffered no injuries in the crash.

Meanwhile, investigations suggest that as the blue car drove on Van Buren Blvd, it was rear-ended, causing the driver to veer into oncoming traffic where he was t-boned by the white truck.

Then, the vehicle that struck the blue car fled the scene.

Also, multiple witnesses on the scene witnessed the blue car veering into oncoming traffic, similar to a U-turn. Then, the truck struck it and the 2nd car take off after the collision.
