2 Teens Injured in Eureka Auto Accident on Henderson Street and Union Street

EUREKA, CA (November 9, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, an alarming 2-vehicle crash on Hendeson Street and Union Street injured 2 people.

The incident happened at around 2:04 p.m. at the intersection of Henderson Street and Union Street in Eureka.

Officers said that one vehicle, a Ford SUV, had overturned and the occupant was still trapped inside.

Thus, officers from the Eureka Police Department (EPD) as well as personnel from Humboldt Bay Fire (HBF) came to the scene.

Then, responders freed the driver from the overturned vehicle who was then taken to a local hospital by City Ambulance for moderate to serious injuries.

Moreover, the second vehicle, a silver Honda Sedan, had come to rest atop a brick fence in the yard on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Meanwhile, officers revealed that the driver and passenger of this vehicle were both 15 years old and both managed to self-extricate from the vehicle. Both sustained moderate to serious injuries and were taken by City Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

Also, the authorities do not believe that intoxication played a role in the crash.

Furthermore, the authorities urged any witnesses to contact Sergeant Jonathan Eckert at 707-441-4081. EPD is currently looking for the driver of a white vehicle that was stopped at the stop sign on Union Street at Henderson at the time of the incident.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
