Flagstaff, AZ (October 7, 2024) – 66-year-old Alan Swendsen died in a motorcycle crash on Lake Mary Road.

Flagstaff police report that a Valley man has been arrested and jailed on multiple felony charges following a fatal motorcycle crash over the weekend. 

Authorities state that 65-year-old Christopher Jon Hands of Phoenix is accused of driving his truck under the influence when he collided with a motorcycle on Lake Mary Road around 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The motorcyclist, identified as 66-year-old Alan Swendsen from Flagstaff, tragically died at the scene. 

Police found Hands impaired following the crash, but details on how or where he was located after the collision, or how he allegedly fled the scene, have not been disclosed.

Hands is now in custody at the Coconino County jail, facing charges including second-degree murder, failure to stop for an accident involving death, and driving under the influence.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash, and no further details have been released.
