Highway 99 DUI Crash Kills Sacramento Man, Alan Reyes of Roseville Arrested
Sacramento, CA (May 16, 2021) – On Saturday, a 31-year-old Sacramento man died and police arrested 19-year-old Alan Reyes of Roseville in a DUI crash on Highway 99.
The fatal accident happened at 1:49 a.m. south of Florin Road.
Apparently, a truck driven by Reyes was speeding in the far-right lane when he arrived upon slower moving traffic.
Reyes swerved to the right and struck a sign and a chainlink fence along the road. Afterward, he drifted back onto the road, and struck the center divider, ejecting a passenger.
His vehicle then came to rest heading south in the fast lane.
Shortly, a van driven by a 31-year-old Sacramento man crashed head-on with Reyes’ truck. The Sacramento man died at the accident scene.
Subsequently, an SUV driven by a 35-year-old Sacramento man veered to avoid the collision. However, he hit the center divider and the passenger who was previously thrown from Reyes’ truck.
Rescuers took the truck passenger to the hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
On the other hand, rescuers took Reyes to a hospital with moderate injuries.
Officers gave him a DUI evaluation and was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
As a result, they arrested him on charges of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
