72-Year-Old Wilma Chan Fatally Struck on Grand Street.
Alameda, CA (November 03, 2021) – On Wednesday, 72-year-old Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan died in a pedestrian accident on Grand Street.
The authorities immediately responded to the scene shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection with Shore Line Drive.
Investigating officers said Chan was walking her dog Maggie when a vehicle struck her.
Immediately, rescuers took her to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where the authorities pronounced her dead at 2:30 p.m after life-saving efforts from medical staff.
“During her 30-year career in public service, Supervisor Chan had been a staunch advocate for children, families, the elderly, affordable housing, and health care for the uninsured,” one of the statements said about her.
Chan left two children and two grandchildren. Moreover, the family thanks the first responders and medical staff for providing wonderful care to Supervisor Chan. They are requesting privacy at this time.
Meanwhile, the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
