1 Killed in Victorville Pedestrian Crash on Seventh Avenue
VICTORVILLE, CA (May 17, 2020) – 38-year-old Alaina Swain was arrested after a fatal pedestrian accident on Seventh Street on May 13.
According to inmate records, authorities booked Alaina Swain on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI and hit-and-run at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. Her bail was set to $275,000 bail that includes a bail for a separate case.
Reports from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department revealed that Swain escaped the crash scene, together with her two male passengers who were in their 20s. They added that the suspect fled “without rendering aid to the pedestrian.” Fortunately, the authorities were able to locate Alaina Swain at her Apple Valley home.
Meanwhile, Sheriff’s spokesperson Mara Rodriguez stated that they will still conduct a series of questioning for the two passengers.
The emergency personnel came to the scene just after 9:30 p.m. in the 15200 block of Seventh Street.
“Upon arrival deputies determined a tan Chevrolet Tahoe drove north on Seventh Street. The driver of the Chevrolet swerved off the roadway and collided with several concrete curbs before colliding into a pedestrian and the Amigo Auto Care business,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
The impact left the pedestrian with major injuries. However, the victim succumbed to fatal injuries at a local hospital. The authorities didn’t disclose the name of the victim due to pending family notification.
The medical responders also too Alaina Swain to a local hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.
Moreover, the court records revealed that Swain has several traffic infractions.
