74-Year-Old Alain Gerard Killed in Coarsegold Car Crash
COARSEGOLD, CA (April 27, 2020) – On Monday morning, 74-year-old Alain Gerard was killed in a car accident on Highway 41.
According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened around 9:00 AM near Road 420. As per reports, Gerard was driving a Nissan pickup when he suffered from a medical issue while driving. As a result, Gerard veered into oncoming traffic and collided head on with a dump truck.
First responders arrived to the scene shortly after. The Madera County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that Gerard was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition, Gerard’s wife was taken to a local hospital for further treatment of minor injuries. The dump truck driver remained uninjured.
Towing services were later requested to remove the damaged vehicles from the scene.
Moreover, the surrounding area on Highway 41 closed for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened.
