Skydiver Falls on Roof and is Fatally Injured on the 200 Block of Caldera Street Near Monument Ranch Park
PERRIS, CA (January 22, 2018) – A fatal skydiving incident was reported on Monday afternoon around 2:56 PM on the 200 block of Caldera Street, just 2 miles southwest of Perris Valley Airport.
The victim was identified as 27-year-old Canadian man Aime-Jean St. Hilaire-Adam from Calgary by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office. Cal Fire and the Riverside County Fire Department arrived on the scene to find the unconscious victim of the roof of a home. He suffered traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
St. Hilaire-Adam was an experienced diver that traveled to Perris annually for an international competition. He reportedly collided with another jumper before falling onto the roof, but no other injuries have been mentioned by authorities.
Investigation continues according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Vasquez, that says many details of the accident are still unknown: the cause of the fall, what altitude the man jumped from, and which skydiving center oversaw the jump. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were notified of the fatal accident, and have also begun investigation. U.S. Aviation authorities are also taking a lot at the faulty equipment that was used by the victim.
Condolences to the friends and family of Aime-Jean St. Hilaire-Adam. He was avid skydiver, traveler, and adventurer. May he rest in peace.
