Police Search for Hit-And-Run Driver after Crash on West Valencia Road

Tucson, AZ (September 26, 2023) – Tuesday morning, 41-year-old Adriana Patricia Mada died in a hit-and-run crash on West Valencia Road.

The fatal crash happened at around 4:30 a.m. at West Valencia Road on the I-19 overpass.

According to TPD, Mada was on the south side of the overpass, crossing it from west to east. The car involved was traveling northbound on the I-19 off-ramp and was attempting to turn left onto Valencia Road westbound.

Mada ran into the crosswalk as the car attempted to turn on a green light. The vehicle hit her.

However, the car involved fled the scene and continued westbound on Valencia Road without stopping.

All attempts to render aid to the pedestrian were made, unfortunately, Mada died at the crash scene.

The TPD said in a press release, “crossing against the traffic signal by the pedestrian is the known contributing factor, but the driver leaving the scene of a fatal collision is the focus of the investigation.”

It is believed the suspect car is a dark-colored pickup truck.
