21-Year-Old Pronounced Dead after Cowlitz County Car Crash
COWLITZ COUNTY, WA (March 2, 2020) – A 21-year-old driver identified as Adrian Calzada-Gonzalez, was killed in a car accident near the Coweeman Bridge on 5 Freeway.
According to reports, a witness saw the collision near milepost 38 and attempted to help. However, the witness was unable to locate the driver. Washington State Patrol believed that Calzada-Gonzalez was ejected from the vehicle when they began their search.
On February 24, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office utilized a night-vision drone and a boat to look for Calzada-Gonzalez. However, the deputies were unsuccessful.
On Wednesday evening February 26, rescue crews located the victim. Medics pronounded Calzada-Gonzalez dead due to a traumatic head injury sustained in the crash.
The surrounding area was closed off during preliminary duties. Moreover, no other motorists were involved in the crash. Reports later stated that the vehicle bounced off the guardrail and concrete barriers of the bridge.
Authorities later confirmed that Calzada-Gonzalez originally came from New Mexico and his family has been notified. No further information has been released to the public at this time.
