1 Dead in Oakland Pedestrian Accident on San Leandro Street
OAKLAND, CA (January 27, 2021) – Adolfo Gonzalez was the victim who died in a hit-and-run crash on San Leandro Street last January 18.
Recently, the Alameda County coroner’s bureau confirmed the identity of the 55-year-old victim from Hayward. The incident happened in the 10200 block of San Leandro Street.
The officers came to the scene at 6:01 a.m. and investigated the vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
Upon their arrival, they found Adolfo Gonzalez down in the street, unconscious. Meanwhile, the driver of the involved vehicle has fled without giving Gonzalez any aid.
Responders then took Gonzalez to a hospital in critical condition. However, the pedestrian died last Sunday, January 24th.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Gonzalez walked across San Leandro Street. Then, the eastbound vehicle struck him on the street. According to the police, Gonzalez failed to use any type of crosswalk.
Meanwhile, the vehicle continued east on San Leandro Street. At this time, the authorities haven’t confirmed whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The authorities continue to investigate the crash. Moreover, they urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit at (510) 777-8570.
