YUBA CITY, CA (April 21, 2020) – Early Saturday morning, a woman named Adele Vershaw and a 2-year-old child were killed in a head-on collision on Highway 99.
Authorities responded to the crash near Hutchinson Road just after 4:30 a.m.
A 24-year-old woman was driving a 2018 Dodge Caravan north of Highway 99 near Hutchinson Road with a 2-year-old child inside the vehicle.
Meanwhile, a 50-year-old woman was traveling south in a 2018 Jeep Liberty, at a speed of 65 miles per hour.
For reasons still unknown, the 24-year-old female driver then veered across the center median and into the southbound lanes before veering off the right side.
As her vehicle went off the road onto the gravel shoulder, she crossed back into the southbound lanes.
As a result of her overcorrection, she struck the Jeep head-on.
The Aftermath
Authorities later pronounced the 24-year-old woman and her two-year-old passenger dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, medics transported the 50-year-old female driver of the Jeep to the hospital for further treatment of major injuries and multiple fractures.
