Adele Johnson and Desseree Lopez Identified in Fatal Palm Springs Multi-Vehicle Crash
PALM SPRINGS, CA (August 29, 2019) – Two women died in a multi-vehicle crash in Palm Springs Monday afternoon.
The Riverside County Coroners Office identified the victims as 51-year-old Adele Johnson and 34-year-old Desseree Lopez. Both were from Palm Springs. Johnson passed away at Desert Regional Medical Center while Lopez died at the scene.
Two other people from separate vehicles were sent to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to the Palm Springs Police Department, callers reported the crash near North Indian Canyon Drive and West Tramview Road at about 4:45 p.m. Involved were five cars and trucks.
One of the vehicles involved in the crash also slammed into a power pole. This resulted in a power outage in the area that affected two customers as per the Southern California Edison. The outage lasted until about 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Officials closed North Indian Canyon Drive between East San Rafael Drive due to the crash. They also shut down the 10 Freeway until Tuesday morning.
The Palm Springs police said drugs and/or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. They asked for any witnesses to call them at 760-323-8125.
