Off-Duty Police Officer Detained after Montgomery County Auto Accident on FM 1314
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (May 22, 2024) — Early Saturday morning, Adan Lopez was arrested after a startling rollover crash on FM 1314.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on FM 1314 in the Porter area. Authorities identified Lopez, an off-duty HPD officer, who now faces charges of interfering with public duties and unlawful carry of a weapon.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered two individuals receiving medical attention in the back of an ambulance for injuries from the crash. They determined that the vehicle’s driver, Norma Miranda Estrada, was intoxicated at the time and subsequently arrested her, booking her into the Montgomery County Jail.
During the investigation, Lopez reportedly refused to follow deputies’ instructions and repeatedly interfered with their work. It was also noted that Estrada was wearing her seatbelt, while Lopez was not, aiding in the identification of the vehicle’s driver.
Lopez sustained multiple facial injuries in the crash before law enforcement’s arrival and received treatment from EMS before being transported to a local hospital. After his medical treatment, he was taken to the Montgomery County Jail. HPD’s Internal Affairs Division was notified and met with Lopez at the hospital before his transfer.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
