Ethan Garza Injured, Adam Garza, Kaleb Garza, Madysyn Garza, Jordan Garza, and 1 Other Dead in Possible DUI Crash
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 25, 2018) – On Sunday night around 8:30 PM, a head-on collision on Highway 43 just north of Wasco Avenue, resulted in five deaths and one injury.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 47-year-old woman in a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on the 43, when she crossed into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Hyundai Sonata.
The unidentified woman was pronounced dead on the scene, including four people inside of the Hyundai: Adam Garza, 40; Kaleb Garza, 19; Madysyn Garza, 14; and Jordan Garza, 11. 17-year-old Ethan Garza suffered serious injuries and was flown into the Kern Medical Center for treatment. He was reported to be in critical, but stable, condition.
The family was returning home from quinceanera practice.
Wasco Avenue was shut down for some time, while authorities investigated the scene of the fatal crash. Police officials believe that alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident, but wait for the results of the toxicology report.
