Tucson Police Officer Adam Buckner Dead After Crash on North Campbell Avenue 

Tucson, AZ (April 1, 2024) – On Sunday night, 31-year-old Officer Adam Buckner died in a crash on North Campbell Avenue.

The Tucson Police Department reports that a crash overnight claimed the life of one of its lead officers. 

The officer, responding to a service call before 10 p.m. Sunday, met with a collision near North Campbell Avenue and East 6th Street, close to the University of Arizona campus. 

According to police, the crash occurred when another driver, turning and failing to yield, struck 31-year-old Officer Adam Buckner. 

Buckner was proceeding through a green light, with his patrol car’s emergency lights and sirens activated.

First aid and CPR were administered to Buckner by officers and good Samaritans until fire personnel arrived. A nearby hospital received him, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver who collided with and caused Buckner’s death sustained minor injuries. 

Police currently do not suspect impairment as a factor in the crash. They have yet to issue any citations or file charges related to the incident.
