Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Van Involved in Accident on Highway 90 and Loop 1604 [San Antonio, TX]

2 Injured in San Antonio Vehicle Crash on Highway 90 and Loop 1604

SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 4, 2024) – Wednesday morning, a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office van was involved in an accident on Highway 90 and Loop 1604.

The incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. at the Highway 90 and Loop 1604 intersection on the far West Side.

Reports revealed that the crash sent two people, including a prisoner, to the hospital.

Officers confirmed that as the van transported a prisoner traveling westbound, it crashed with a northbound car on 1604. Also, witnesses said the van ran a red light, police said.

As a result, a female in her 30s and the prisoner in the van were both taken to a hospital with minor injuries as a precaution. Meanwhile, the deputy driving the van accompanied the prisoner.

The authorities believed that the van was headed to the Dominguez State Jail, but a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson at the scene could not say for sure if that was the case.

Meanwhile, another car veered to avoid the crash and hit a crosswalk sign. Fortunately, the driver, a woman in her 60s, suffered no injuries.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
