Abraham Velasco Arrested for Deadly Hit-and-Run Accident on Hayvenhurst Avenue [North Hills, CA]

Woman Killed in North Hills Hit-And-Run Crash on Hayvenhurst Avenue, Suspect Arrested

NORTH HILLS, CA (October 6, 2021) – Tuesday morning, police arrested Abraham Velasco, 29, for a fatal hit-and-run accident on Hayvenhurst Avenue and Nordhoff Street.

The accident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on Hayvenhurst Avenue and Nordhoff Street.

Witness Brian Macklin said that he managed to stop in time to avoid getting struck. He added that he noticed the black Range Rover driving south on Havenhurt Avenue before the hit and run.

Shortly after, it failed to yield at a red light at Nordhoff Street and crashed with three other cars.

“Right in front of us, like 3D,” Macklin said. “Like a movie, like a movie. Lucky we stopped fast enough where we weren’t involved in the accident.”

After the deadly crash, the driver and passenger of the silver Honda Civic were stuck inside. Meanwhile, the male driver of the Range Rover exited the car and fled on foot.

“I seen the guy getting out of the range rover and I thought maybe he was injured,” he said. “And they were like he’s going for it, he’s running.”

Meanwhile, the police added that another man in the Range Rover, a passenger, also fled.

On the other hand, the Honda Civic driver succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, responders took two patients to a hospital.

The authorities confirmed that the hit-and-run driver stole the Range Rover. Also, they obtained DNA evidence to find the wanted men.

Two days later, authorities arrested suspect Abraham Velasco in connection with the North Hills accident.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is holding him on a 2 million dollar bail. The passenger involved remains at large.
