Abraham Vargas Killed in FM 554 Traffic Crash [Ector County, TX]

Ector County, TX (February 6, 2024) On Saturday morning, 31-year-old Abraham Vargas was killed after a horrific traffic crash on FM 554.

According to the Texas DPS, the deadly 2-vehicle crash happened early Saturday morning at the intersection of FM 554 and East Cottonwood Road.

Reports say that an eastbound full-size truck, driven by 47-year-old Michael Johnson of Midland, allegedly ran a stop sign at the crossing and crashed into the northbound vehicle Vargas was driving.

DPS says that the 31-year-old victim was rushed to Medical Center Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Meanwhile, officials say that Johnson suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating the deadly 2-vehicle crash and have not released additional information at this time.
