34-Year-Old Construction Worker Dead in Workplace Accident near Main Street
DALY CITY, CA (July 27, 2018) – A worker was killed late Friday morning after a trench collapsed at a construction site near Main Street. Family members identified the victim as 34-year-old Abel Sauceda Quinonez.
As per reports, the incident was reported at 11:20 AM at a new housing development on 118 Linda Vista Drive near Robertson Intermediate School. Quinonez was installing a 24-inch concrete storm drain when a 12-foot deep trench collapsed.
Two search and rescue teams arrived for recovery operations, which lasted for approximately 12 hours. Emergency crews evaluated Quinonez and pronounced him dead at the scene. The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration also responded to the construction site to conduct an investigation.
