Natalie Weiss Seriously Injured in Fatal DUI Crash in Sonoma
SONOMA, CA (January 26, 2020) – A man was arrested following a deadly DUI crash Sunday afternoon in the southeastern part of Sonoma.
The crash happened around 12:20 p.m. at the intersection of 8th Street East and Napa Road.
According to the CHP, a drunk driver of a gray 2008 BMW ran a red light and plowed into a Subaru. Emergency crews immediately responded and provided life-saving measures.
Sadly, the driver of the Subaru did not survive and died at the scene. Officials only described him as a 35-year-old man.
The passenger in the Subaru, 34-year-old Natalie Weiss, was airlifted to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa.
Authorities arrested the BMW driver, 36-year-old Abdulhadi Awad, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Two motorcyclists waiting at the intersection were hit with debris but were not injured.
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
