26-Year-Old Port Hueneme Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in DUI Collision near 72nd Street East, Mickey Oden Arrested
LITTLEROCK, CA (September 6, 2018) – Late Thursday afternoon, a motorcyclist was killed in a DUI crash on Pearblossom Highway. The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Aaron Esala of Port Hueneme.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place at approximately 4:20 PM, just east of the 805 Freeway.
Reports showed that an eastbound 2003 Nissan, driven by Mickey Oden, made a left turn in front of two Harley Davidson motorcycles heading west on the same road. Esala, who was riding one of the motorcycles, was unable to avoid the car and struck its right side. The impact of the collision ejected him from the bike. The other rider, 28-year-old James Seier, was unable to avoid Esala’s motorcycle, and his bike also went down.
Esala was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A GoFundMe page was set up to help Esala’s family with funeral expenses. Click on the link to donate and support the campaign. Seier suffered a minor abrasion to his right arm, but there is no update on his current medical condition.
Oden was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. No further details have been disclosed to the public at this time, as the investigation continues.
We send our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Aaron Esala. Wishing them strength and comfort during this very difficult time, as they grieve for their loss. May he rest in peace.
