30-Year-Old Tulare Man Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Crash near East Cartmill Avenue
TULARE, CA (October 16, 2018) – A man was injured early Tuesday morning following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 99. The victim was later as 30-year-old Aaron Carpenter, a resident of Tulare.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 1:40 AM near East Cartmill Avenue. A 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant, driven by the victim, was heading north on the 99 freeway when it drifted to the left and into the dirt center divider. The driver then over-corrected back to the right, where he slammed into a tractor-trailer.
The impact of the crash critically injured Carpenter, who was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment. Further updates on his current medical condition were not provided. Meanwhile, the driver of the tractor-trailer left the scene after the collision.
Authorities believe that the tractor-trailer driver was unaware of the crash. It was also noted that Carpenter was not secured in a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
