Injuries Reported in Concord Fatal Collision
Concord, CA (April 7, 2024) – A 9-year-old girl was killed and four others were injured following an Interstate 680 collision Sunday morning.
It was about 5:14 a.m. when the authorities received the fatal crash report.
Troopers said a gray Mazda CX-9 was northbound when it drove through the dirt median that separates the two freeways. As a result, the vehicle overturned several times and landed on its roof.
Sadly, the rescuers declared the 9-year-old deceased at the scene while other females inside the car were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with major injuries.
Troopers said several occupants in the vehicle weren’t wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Investigators said the 30-year-old male driver of the vehicle fled the scene before the authorities arrived.
