9 People Hurt in Rollover Crash on Interstate 8 and Lake Murray Boulevard [San Diego, CA]

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 4, 2022) – Monday afternoon, a rollover crash on Interstate 8 and Lake Murray Boulevard hurt at least nine people.
 
According to reports, the crash occurred just before 3:35 p.m. on Interstate 8 in the westbound lanes, west of Lake Murray Boulevard.
 
Reports revealed that a blue Mazda struck a white Nissan van headed west. Then, the impact sent the van to an embankment where it overturned and rolled back down on the freeway.
 
Moreover, authorities confirmed that eight children occupied the van. Also, one of them was ejected from the vehicle.
 
Initially, that person was unconscious but later regained consciousness.
 
Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that one patient required CPR. Then, responders transported some of them to Rady Children’s Hospital, one in the most serious status. Moreover, officers said that all patients sustained minor injuries, except for the ejected patient.
 
Also, officers revealed that the 47-year-old Mazda driver from Phoenix suffered no injuries.
 
At this time, the authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash. However, officers suspect that it may have started with an unknown vehicle hitting the Mazda, propelling it into the van. The CHP’s online log also noted that two cars may have been racing.
