9 People Suffered Injuries after Kelseyville on Highway 29 near Kit’s Corner
KELSEYVILLE, CA (July 22, 2019) – Nine people sustained injuries after a two-vehicle head-on accident on Highway 29 on Friday, July 22.
According to radio reports, firefighters responded to the wreck on Highway 29 near Kit’s Corner just before 10:30 p.m.
Authorities received calls of a collision in the area. Responding officers initially said that they only found a dead mountain lion in the roadway.
At around 10 minutes after the incident, firefighters discovered two vehicles approximately half a mile north of Kit’s Corner. Reports described the vehicles as a Lexus and a Ford F150 pickup.
Cal Fire Battalion Chief Mike Wink told a local news source that multiple people had to be extricated from the wreckage.
Wink stated that paramedics rushed a total of nine people to hospitals. Air ambulances rushed four to out-of-county trauma centers and five by ground ambulance to county hospitals. According to Wink, those taken by air ambulance suffered injuries ranging from moderate to major. The remaining five sustained minor to moderate injuries.
The wreck blocked the roadway and law enforcement closed the highway in both directions. They diverted traffic onto Soda Bay Road.
At around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, all of the patients had been transported. After 10 minutes, the roadway reopened.
