ENCINITAS, CA (April 26, 2022) – Sunday morning, nine people required hospitalization after a multi-vehicle crash on Encinitas Boulevard and Via Cantebria.
 
The incident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. when a speeding Nissan Sentra failed to yield to authorities. Minutes later, the pursuit ended in a crash on Encinitas Boulevard and Via Cantebria.
 
According to reports, the driver failed to yield at a red light and made an illegal left turn. The crash involved the Nissan, a Chevy Traverse, and a Volkswagen Jetta all stalled in the intersection.
 
Meanwhile, the CHP confirmed that the Jetta driver was a 25-year-old Carlsbad resident. Meanwhile, a 32-year-old Encinitas woman drove the Chevrolet with her 1-year-old and 3-year-old sons in the vehicle.
 
Moreover, the suspect was a 19-year-old man with five occupants whose ages ranged from 16 to 20 years old.
 
After the crash, responders transported nine people to the hospital as a precaution.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities charged the Nissan’s 19-year-old driver with felony charges including reckless evading of a police officer.
