Elderly Man Fatally Struck by Car while Crossing Against Red Light in Mira Mesa
MIRA MESA, CA (January 23, 2020) – An 86-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian crash Thursday night in the Mira Mesa area of San Diego.
The crash happened around 6:51 p.m. in the 7500 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard near Aderman Avenue.
Police said the man was walking in a crosswalk against a red light when a 2009 Lexus sedan struck him.
As a result, the elderly pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His name and hometown were not immediately available.
The driver, a 52-year-old woman, remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
