Chelsea Kefalas Hurt in Deadly 2-Car Crash on Eureka Way in Redding
REDDING, CA (February 11, 2020) – An elderly woman was killed following a two-car crash Tuesday afternoon in Redding.
The crash happened around 2:16 p.m. near the intersection of Eureka Way and Whiskeytown Court.
Based on driver and witness statements, and evidence located at the scene, a white 2017 Buick exited a private driveway and attempted to make an eastbound turn onto Eureka Way. It then struck by a white 2017 Volkswagen traveling westbound in the right-hand lane of Eureka Way.
Police said the driver of the Volkswagen was unable to avoid the collision and struck the driver side area of the Buick.
As a result, the driver of the Buick, an 85-year-old woman, was transported to Mercy Hospital where she later died. Authorities did not release her name pending the notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Volkswagen, 26-year-old Chelsea Kefalas, complained of pain but declined transportation.
RPD says neither driver was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Further investigation is underway.
