84-Year-Old Fikre Workneh Fatally Struck on East Ocean Boulevard [Long Beach, CA]

Long Beach, CA (October 22, 2021) – On Thursday, 84-year-old Fikre Workneh suffered fatal injuries in an East Ocean Boulevard pedestrian accident.

Officers said Workneh was crossing the intersection with Lindero Avenue when a 2021 Acura ILX hit him.

Apparently, the light was green for the Acura and Workneh was not on a crosswalk when the accident happened.

A Long Beach Police Department officer witnessed the incident and performed life-saving measures on Workneh until the paramedics arrived.

However, the Long Beach Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene.

Moreover, the car driver, a Long Beach resident, stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with the officers.

The authorities are still investigating the fatal crash. Neither speed, distraction nor impaired driving is considered factors in the incident.
