81-Year-Old Woman Injured in 23rd Avenue SE Collision [Puyallup, WA]

Puyallup Traffic Collision Results in Injuries

Puyallup, WA (July 14, 2023) – On July 13, an 81-year-old woman sustained injuries following a 23rd Avenue SE collision.

Puyallup Police Chief Scott Engle said that a male driver was eastbound on 23rd Avenue Southeast when he lost control of his car. The car turned toward 22nd Street Southeast and drove off the road, through a fence. The vehicle then drove into the back side of the home through the 81-year-old woman’s bedroom.

“We suspect the driver was impaired,” Engle said, explaining officers believed the driver was under the influence of an unspecified drug. “People aren’t civil on the road anymore. They don’t respect the laws of our state highways, our city roads, and our county roads. We’ve got to get back to a place where the law matters.”

Moreover, the authorities expect the 81-year-old woman to recover from her injuries.

Officers said that the involved car, a Hyundai, was not stolen.

The authorities are still investigating the cause of the traffic incident.
