1 Dies and 3 Hospitalized After Chain-Reaction Crash Near Shasta Street
CHULA VISTA, AZ (September 30, 2019) – An 81-year-old pedestrian died in an accident on Fourth Avenue on Monday afternoon.
According to the authorities, the accident happened near Shasta Street at approximately 1:10 PM.
Based on a report, a Chevrolet work truck was speeding and weaving in and out of lanes before it crashed into a parked Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The work truck ended up on its side in the driveway of a home. The Chevy then struck a second parked car and the pedestrian.
The paramedics said the pedestrian was trapped under the second car. They transported the victim to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he later died due to injuries.
A woman and her two children were near the Silverado at the time of the accident. They were taken to different hospitals after being pelted with debris from the crash. Their injuries were believed to be minor.
Police do not suspect he drove under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but the case remained under investigation.
