3 People Hospitalized After Fatal Crash on Vincent Road in Merced County
Merced County, CA (December 18, 2024) – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that an eight-month-old baby girl died following a crash on Vincent Road.
CHP officers responded to the crash around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Vincent Road, north of Harding Road, after receiving an emergency call.
Investigators revealed that a 20-year-old man from Delhi was driving a gray Honda Civic southbound on Vincent Road, while a 43-year-old woman from Turlock was driving a white Toyota Highlander northbound on the same road.
According to CHP, the Honda veered onto the shoulder of Vincent Road before turning sharply into the oncoming lane, colliding with the front of the Toyota Highlander.
The impact caused the Honda to continue traveling until it crashed into a wrought iron fence, while the Toyota came to a stop, blocking both lanes of Vincent Road.
CHP reported that the Honda’s driver and front-seat passenger sustained major injuries and were transported to hospitals in Modesto.
The eight-month-old passenger in the Honda was also transported to a hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries.
The Toyota driver was taken to a Modesto hospital for treatment, though her condition remains unknown.
CHP stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
