Raymundo Ruiz Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Collision near Avenue 368
VISALIA, CA (October 14, 2018) – A woman was killed Sunday evening following a pedestrian crash on Highway 63. The identity of the 75-year-old victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 7:00 PM near Avenue 368. 65-year-old Raymundo Ruiz of Fresno was heading north on the highway when a man and a woman walked in front of his 2003 Toyota. Ruiz turned to the left but was unable to avoid colliding with the woman.
The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, her male companion did not sustain injuries in the crash. Ruiz remained on site and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released to the public once it becomes available.
