74-Year-Old Man Killed in Morning DUI Crash near Reservation Road
MARINA, CA (June 4, 2019) – A man was killed following a suspected DUI crash on Highway 1 Tuesday morning, near Reservation Road.
The accident happened around 9:25 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the highway. First responders arrived near the Reservation Road on-ramp shortly after.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver in a 2005 Subaru was getting on the Highway 1 on-ramp at Reservation Road when they struck a 2016 Kia that was parked on the shoulder.
The driver of the Kia was killed upon impact as a result. The victim was later identified as a 72-year-old Monterey man. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.
Furthermore, it is still currently unknown why he stopped on the side of the road. The driver of the Subaru faces charges of vehicular manslaughter.
Alcohol and/or drugs have been ruled out as factors in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
