Car Crashes into Ambulance on 15 Freeway in Fallbrook Killing One
FALLBROOK, CA (November 28, 2019) – A 73-year-old woman died when the car she was riding in slammed into an ambulance Thursday morning in Fallbrook.
The crash happened around 10:32 a.m. on southbound 15 Freeway at Mission Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford Mustang spun out and crashed into the center divider of the freeway.
While emergency crews attended to the Mustang’s driver, who sustained minor injuries in the crash, the driver of a Crown Victoria lost control and crashed into the ambulance at the scene.
As a result, a female passenger in the Crown Victoria died at the scene. The driver, a 66-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man, suffered major injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.
The people inside the ambulance, which included the Mustang driver and emergency personnel, sustained minor injuries.
Officials closed three left lanes of southbound 15 Freeway while they worked on the scene. Motorists were advised to slow down.
An investigation is still ongoing.
