Elderly Pedestrian in Critical Condition after Struck by Vehicle near Euclid Street
GARDEN GROVE, CA (October 21, 2018) – An elderly man was listed in a critical condition after a pedestrian crash on Westminster Avenue, early Sunday morning. His name and place of residence were not immediately released to the public.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 12:41 PM, near Euclid Street.
The 72-year-old pedestrian was crossing the road when struck by a black 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 44-year-old unidentified man.
Garden Grove Police officers arrived at the scene to find the victim injured in the road. Medics reported that the pedestrian suffered from head and facial injuries and was transported to UCI Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition. There is no update on his current medical status.
The driver of the Tahoe remained on site and cooperated with officers. It did not appear that alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the collision. Any witnesses are asked to contact the Garden Grove Police Department’s traffic unit by calling (714) 741-5823.
