Lynn County, TX (August 24, 2024) – 72-year-old Leonel Salazar of O’Donnell lost his life in an FM 2053 collision Friday morning.

It was about 9:15 a.m. when the fatal 2-vehicle crash occurred near the intersection with US Highway 87.

DPS stated Salazar’s vehicle was stopped facing west on FM 2053 near the intersection. At the same time, Javier Lucio was towing a semi-trailer while northeast in the outside northbound lane of Highway 87 toward the intersection of 2053.

Lucio drifted left to avoid hitting Salazar and crashed at the intersection.

Unfortunately, Salazar succumbed to his crash injuries.

Lucio, on the other hand, was not injured in the collision.

Investigating officers said both drivers were wearing seatbelts when the accident happened.
