1 Killed and 4 Injured in Collision near 3rd Street
CONCORD, CA (June 19, 2018) – A man lost his life Tuesday evening and four others, including three children, were injured following a two-vehicle crash on Concord Boulevard.
According to the Concord Police Department, they received numerous reports about the collision at 6:38 PM near 3rd Street. The officers, along with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District paramedics and firefighters, responded to the scene where they found two vehicles damaged from the crash.
The driver of the first vehicle, described to be a 71-year-old Sacramento man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, a 32-year-old Concord woman, suffered injuries. She, along with her three young passengers, was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of their serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. The children’s ages range from 10 months to 8 years old.
Police claimed that the surviving driver was cooperating in the investigation, where it was determined that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision. The identities of the parties involved were not immediately available and no further details have been disclosed to the public at this time.
