1 Dead and 1 Injured in San Diego Car Collision on Rancho Bernardo Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 8, 2020) – A 71-year-old man died while a person sustained serious injuries in a collision on Rancho Bernardo Road.
The incident occurred about 6:20 p.m. on Rancho Bernardo Road and Meandro Drive, San Diego Police Officer John Buttle revealed.
According to Buttle, the 71-year-old man driving a 2018 Chevrolet Volt drove on Meandro Drive when he pulled out in front of an eastbound 2001 Toyota Tacoma on Rancho Bernardo Road. The pickup hit the Chevy’s driver’s side.
The elderly man died at the scene. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old female Toyota driver went to a hospital for treatment of a broken collarbone and a broken tailbone.
It’s still unclear whether intoxication is a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
