Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Balls Ferry Road in Cottonwood
COTTONWOOD, CA (August 16, 2019) – A 70-year-old man was killed following a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon in Cottonwood, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 2:43 p.m. at the intersection of Adobe and Balls Ferry roads.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 33-year-old woman in a blue Dodge Avenger was pulling out of her driveway attempting to turn left at a blind curve. At the same time, the motorcyclist was heading westbound and tried to move left to avoid the vehicle.
However, the motorcycle rider hit the back of the woman’s car.
The impact of the crash caused fatal injuries to the rider. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Authorities closed the Balls Ferry Road for about an hour while they investigated the incident. The roadway was reopened around 4:30 p.m.
