Eduardo Blanco Arrested after DUI Crash on Di Giorgio Road near Cottonwood Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 12, 2019) – A total of seven people suffered injuries in a suspected DUI crash on Di Giorgio Road, Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Cottonwood Road, at about 8:15 PM. An eastbound maroon GMC Sierra crossed over the yellow center divider, crashing into a westbound gray Dodge Charger at approximately 45 to 50 mph.
The impact of the collision caused the GMC Sierra to roll over onto its passenger side before coming to rest. Meanwhile, the Dodge Charger came to rest on the dirt shoulder of Di Giorgio Road. There, the driver, identified as John Jose Gabriel Cruz, was pinned in the driver’s seat.
Emergency responders transported five people to Kern Medical and Memorial Hospital with minor to major injuries. Meanwhile, a 9-month-old girl and a 3-year-old girl suffered major injuries. A helicopter transported them to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera for treatment.
Authorities arrested the GMC Sierra driver, later identified as Eduardo Blanco, or driving under the influence and causing injury.
