1 Dead and 1 Hospitalized after Multi-Vehicle Crash near Road 36
MADERA COUNTY, CA (October 12, 2018) – A man was killed Friday morning following a four-car collision on Highway 145. The identity of the 69-year-old victim is being withheld, pending notification of family.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly after 6:00 AM near Road 36. A westbound 1995 Dodge Dakota, driven by the victim, drifted left into the eastbound lane and slammed into a Ford F-150. The Dakota then struck the left rear of a Chevrolet Silverado before colliding with a Ford Escape.
The unidentified driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, the Ford F-150 driver, identified as 22-year-old Jose Alfredo Gomez, the Chevrolet driver, identified as 34-year-old Juan Alberto Infante, and the Ford Escape driver, identified as 43-year-old Alberto Lopez, did not require hospitalization.
A male passenger in Lopez’s car was taken to the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for a possible broken left leg. Further updates on his current medical condition were not provided.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led to the fatal collision and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
