Pedestrian Dead after SUV Accident on San Ysidro Boulevard
SAN YSIDRO, CA (July 8, 2019) – A man died following an SUV crash on San Ysidro Boulevard in San Ysidro at around 9:25 p.m on Friday, July 5.
According to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department, the accident happened near a Shell gas station in the 300 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard near Border Village Road.
A 45-year-old woman driving a 2016 Dodge Journey made a left turn out of the gas station parking lot towards East San Ysidro Boulevard. At the same time, the pedestrian tried to cross from the south side of the street to the north side.
The vehicle then struck the 68-year-old man. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his fatal injuries.
Officers believe that alcohol did not play a part in the collision. The person at fault was yet to be determined, according to Heims.
Authorities urge any person with information on this fatal crash to contact Traffic Division investigators at 858-495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
