65-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 32 in Chico
Chico, CA (May 11, 2020) – On Friday evening, an elderly man died after a a bicycle accident on Highway 32.
California Highway Patrol said that the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., on May 8. CHP reported that the 65-year-old man was riding a bicycle in the eastbound lane on Highway 32 near Ten Mile House Trail.
The other person involved was a 32-year-old man who was driving a 2018 Chevrolet pickup. He was seen going on the same direction where the bicyclist headed. The driver was going 55 miles per hour when he struck the bicyclist.
Then, the driver of the Chevrolet advanced toward the bicycle. The front right-end of the pickup hit the elderly bicyclist.
CHP said that the bicyclist was killed as a result of the incident.

Furthermore, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear due to a lack of details. However, the police are convinced that neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash.
